Welcome
Turtle Cove & Bear Den (walking-3 years)

Our Mission
Within our walkers to 3 years old classrooms, we are committed to providing a nurturing environment that fosters holistic development based on developmental principles. Our mission is to create a safe and engaging space where each child can explore, learn, and grow at their own pace. Through a play-based curriculum tailored to meet the diverse needs of young learners, we promote social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development. With a focus on individualized attention and responsive caregiving, we strive to nurture each child's unique strengths and abilities while fostering a love for learning that will last a lifetime
Why do we keep children of different ages together?
Having mixed-age classrooms for children aged 12 months to 3 years offers a host of developmental benefits that align with key principles of early childhood education. In these environments, younger children benefit from exposure to more advanced skills and behaviors demonstrated by their older peers. They learn through observation and imitation, acquiring new language, social, and motor skills at an accelerated pace. For instance, a 12-month-old may observe a 2-year-old stacking blocks and attempt to mimic the action, thereby enhancing their own fine motor skills and problem-solving abilities.

Older children, on the other hand, have the opportunity to reinforce their learning by teaching and guiding younger classmates. This role reversal fosters leadership skills, empathy, and patience. For example, a 3-year-old might help a 1-year-old learn to use a spoon during mealtime, thereby strengthening their own understanding of self-help skills while also developing empathy and cooperation.

Moreover, having the same teacher for multiple years allows for continuity and consistency in the child's learning environment. The teacher becomes deeply familiar with each child's strengths, challenges, and individual learning styles, enabling them to provide tailored support and interventions. This personalized approach ensures that children receive the individualized attention they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Overall, mixed-age classrooms for children aged 12 months to 3 years promote holistic development by fostering social interaction, peer learning, and individualized instruction. By capitalizing on the diverse strengths and abilities of children at different stages of development, these environments create rich and dynamic learning experiences that lay the foundation for future academic success and lifelong learning
